Great location next to the station so very easy to get to. Reception staff were extremely helpful and very nice - our flight was delayed so we arrived at 2am and the night receptionist let us have the room for a little later (12pm). The staff in the hotel bar were exceptional too - again we had missed breakfast due to our late arrival and they made us toast/ tea even though it was not on the menu. The bar was also a lovely place to relax and the food/ service was excellent. Free wifi too :-) and bags could be left and picked up from reception. Rooms were well stocked with tea/ coffee and milk and sugar Historically, the hotel is very interesting too. It was built in the 18th century (I think!) and has so much character!

The pool was lovely and so were all the facilities around it. The room was nice and was good they had the fan as lack of ac meant the room got very hot but atleast windows opened. The tv was good size and the room staff were very nice. I would 100 percent stay again as its such a good location and so easy to get to most places in Newcastle. I can definitely see passed the few negatives they were and say i enjoyed my time in the hotel the breakfast was delicious i had the porridge which was super and i also had a full breakfast from the buffer which it all was buffet and it was all good quality products which was nice and nothing tasted bland.

My room suited me, it was at the back, so, apart from Saturday, there was a wedding on, people enjoying themselves no problem. I was there as my husband was in the Freeman Hospital, I had booked 4 nights, he was still going to be in over the weekend, on Thursday I asked for 2 more nights, after booking me another room on Saturday and yet another on Sunday, meaning I would have to keep changing rooms, they checked all the time for no shows or cancellations, they got me 2 more nights in the same room, on Saturday morning, this was day and night staff. Will DEFINITELY Highly recommend and if I need to return will stay here.

We have never had such a warm welcome at a hotel. What a friendly and accommodating staff - from the front desk to management to wait staff to the porter to housekeeping. Everyone was just lovely and quite responsive. We arrived by bicycle after 28 days of touring Scotland. This was the perfect place to rest and recover for two days before sailing home. Our room was spacious, the spa was relaxing, and our bike was stored in a secure, indoor location. We opted for half-board and thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The charm of this hotel has been retained while updates have made the facilities more modern.

This is a very old hotel with some original Victorian decor . It’s dark and atmospheric. The two huge chandeliers in the entrance hall are beautiful. The breakfast was very good , served in a dimly lit restaurant. I was seated at a table with views over the street outside . It was raining and grey. There is a free spa/pool building . The location is excellent for people travelling by train. Loved the original revolving doors by reception
